Property Prices in Mallorca Still Strong

June 17th 08
Buyers keen to escape the grey UK for a new life in sunny Mallorca are being urged to move quickly, following news that prices on the Balearic Islands have soared by a staggering 15.26% in the last 12 months, according to El Mundo newspaper.

Demand from all over Europe for properties on Mallorca has resulted in a limit to the new land available, pushing prices up.

Andrew Hawkins, Head of International at Chesterton comments, "Mallorca remains a firm favourite with buyers from the UK and Ireland. People looking to buy in Spain and the Balearics should carry out their own research rather than rely on some of the scare stories we have seen over recent months.

"There are some wonderful developments being built by very reputable developers like Taylor Woodrow. Undoubtedly, the market is a more difficult place at the moment. Nevertheless, there are deals to be done!"

For those keen to purchase a home on the island before the cost rises even further, Chesterton has a selection of fantastic developments to suit a range of budgets and lifestyles.

Andrew Hawkins adds, "Marinas that rival Antibes and Cannes mean that those visitors with super yachts require super homes. Mallorca offers a superb selection of top-end property.

"If you favour the marinas, bars and a quick glimpse of Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones then the south west of the island is for you. Expect to pay more here though."

House hunters keen for a slice of the exclusive lifestyle Mallorca has to offer should find what they're looking for at this selection of developments, which are dotted in stunning locations across the island.

For sun worshippers, the east coast of Mallorca is famous for its beaches and offers more than fifty secluded coves of enormous beauty.

Cala Millor is an ideal base from which to discover this region. Just 3km from the resort is Es Port Verd, a collection of 33 spacious two and three bedroom apartments, priced from £190,000 is just 200 metres from the beach.

Purchasers looking for a home in a more established development should visit Cala Magrana II at Porto Cristo where Chesterton has a selection of two bedroom apartments, priced from £200,000 and three bedroom townhouses priced from £237,000. This beautiful development is just two minutes away from the sea and very close to golf courses, as well as the marina of Porto Cristo.
